Many years ago, a newly-arrived immigrant from the Philippines or a transplant from another state or city almost always wondered if there were any Filipinos in Memphis. There's no need to wonder about that now. Anywhere there's a crowd in the area, chances are you'll find someone who is from, or who has ties to the Philippines. It's amazing how the Fil-Am community in the Metropolitan Memphis area has grown through the years. You'll find Filipinos easily nowadays in churches, malls, hospitals, groceries, sporting events, holiday parades or even theaters and movie houses.

It's one of the many reasons why this Web site was created. As technology advanced, Filipinos in Memphis are also getting more savvy in the way they communicate, interact and share or exchange information with each other. Social interaction has found a good spot in cyberspace. The internet, through this Web site, is one of the many ways the current administration of FILAMemphis hopes to bring the growing number of Filipinos in the Memphis area closer together.
